The festive season is fast approaching, and for creators, that means it’s time to get a jump-start on planning. After all, a busy season can bring more than deadlines—it also comes with a wealth of opportunities for new content and engagement. Here’s how to stay ahead of the season and make the most of your content for the festive period, while also saving time and effort.
Heading into the festive season is a great time to learn from your own past performance. Take a look at which topics have performed best all year, and what types of content performed best last festive season. Has your audience been loving outfit inspo, gift ideas, party planning, shopping lists? It’s also a great time to explore which trends have been resonating with audiences like yours lately. (PS: We’ve got a Trends tool to help you do just that.)
Use these insights to inspire your content planning and make festive season milestones your own by incorporating and creating content around things that you know people have been responding to. Plus, great ideas don’t have to be one-and-done. Look for opportunities to create series or recurring posts (think ‘12 days of DIYs’, ‘festive hosting hacks’ or ‘festive season self-care’) to help easily build out a robust and regular posting plan.
And as always, make sure to optimise your captions and titles with seasonal keywords that your audience is searching for.
Predictability can be an advantage when it comes to planning. Consider which annual festive moments or milestones might matter most to your audience, while keeping past performance and your creator niche in mind.
Which milestones will your audience be anticipating this festive season? For example, if you’re a creator, it might be a great time to think about creating around personal prep for the festive season: menus, outfits, nails or whatever shows off your speciality. If you’re a merchant, Black Friday or Cyber Monday might be major shopping days for you, and great opportunities to lean into product Pins or product tags. For publishers, if hosting or event-prep content performs well, consider planning relevant guides for any event through to New Year’s Eve. And no matter who your audience is, planning to post in advance can allow your content to gain momentum leading up to major moments.
It’s not just about what you make, it’s about how you use it. That goes double for what you’ve previously published. Curate around festive ideas and aesthetics to create round-ups of everything from outfit ideas to recipes to gift recommendations—and package new and existing content in an engaging way.
Find top performing content from throughout the year(s) that fits the theme, and keep an eye on emerging topics and viral moments. If something is resonating with your audience, collecting your ready-made, on-theme content can be a quick and easy way to embrace the trend.
Psst… Pinterest makes it easy to curate around everything from looks to product round-ups to aesthetics by curating boards full of new and existing Pins.
Give yourself the gift of a break (and avoid burnout) over the festive season. Seeing as so much festive content can be anticipated in advance, it can also be created and scheduled ahead of time. Batch-create content before heading into this busy season, and use scheduling tools to help keep to a consistent posting schedule, even while you’re OOO.
The festive season is a time to feel connected, and that includes with your audience. Respond to comments, share stories and encourage engagement to show your appreciation, and build community that lasts long beyond the festive period.
