How to connect your catalogue to Pinterest

Brands of all sizes can sync their product catalogue. Find the set-up that works best for you. Let’s get selling!

Connect your catalogue with a data feed

The set-up

1. Create a product feed

  • A feed (also known as a product catalogue, data source or data feed) is a file with a list of your products and their corresponding attributes.

  • Each row represents a product and each column represents details (metadata) about a product.

  • It can be a CSV, TSV or XML file or a Google Sheet (data source requirements).

2. Upload your feed

  • Get your products in front of shoppers. Catalogues turn your feed into shoppable Pins called product Pins.

3. Maintain your feed

  • Pinterest will ingest your feed at least every 24 hours and alert you to any errors that we detect. Make sure you regularly review your feed to ensure that your product information is accurate and up to date.

Pinterest’s catalogue interface overlaid with a pop-up for manual upload of content, instructing users to upload a file to create or refresh a data source, with a ‘Get started’ CTA button. The background displays images of kitchen items and utensils.

FAQ

FAQ

A catalogue on Pinterest is a merchant’s product listing information represented in Pin form on the platform. When the retail catalogue of an online shop is connected to Pinterest, a feed with specially formatted Pins is automatically created. These Pins, which are called product Pins, contain an image, product title, description, pricing and availability details—and a link to buy on the merchant’s online shop. Product Pins allow people on Pinterest to browse and discover shoppable product content, and they can be distributed organically or promoted via paid ads.

Yes, it’s free to showcase your products on Pinterest. Pinterest is set up to put your content front and centre for relevant audiences, making it easy for shoppers to find what they’re looking for and to support merchants’ goals. Whether you’re using product Pins or tagging products on inspirational Pins, there’s a direct link to buy from your online shop on every Pin. There’s also no cost to promote your product Pins organically.

If you’re looking for additional impact, consider running a paid ad campaign for better lower-funnel results. Learn more about ads on Pinterest

You can connect your catalogue of products to Pinterest either manually or automatically. This will create a feed of product Pins, with one product Pin for each of your product listings.

You can also create a Pin directly on Pinterest with a product image or video, then add an outbound link to your shop’s—or an affiliate’s—product details page to buy.
