Whether you’re planning an event, capturing an aesthetic or sharing your must-have wardrobe staples, Pinterest boards are a content format where you can save, organize and curate ideas. Boards let you combine Pins in one place to create collections, showcase your content and add context that helps make you more discoverable across Pinterest.

Learn how to get started, use board features and share them with others.

Create a board

On mobile:

  • In the Pinterest app, press the plus-sign button, then the "board" icon.

  • Choose a descriptive title for your board—the more specific the better as this helps your content appear in relevant searches—and add it to the "Board name" field.

  • Press the “Create” button.

On desktop:

  • On pinterest.com, head to your profile page.

  • Press the plus-sign button midway down the page and select "board."

  • Fill out the "Board name" field and press "Create."

Add Pins to your board

Once your board is ready, it’s time to fill it with inspiring ideas.

  • Add to your board by tapping the Pin icon or the "Save" button on any Pins that catch your eye. You can add Pins you’ve created, Pins from other people or a mix of both.

  • Pro tip: On mobile, another way to save a Pin to your board is to long press the featured image. Just select the Pin icon, choose a board, then press "Save."

Find additional inspo by scrolling your home feed, searching relevant keywords or selecting “More ideas” for custom recommendations based on the Pins you’ve already saved to a given board.

Discover board features

Boards offer easy ways to create, collaborate and showcase content.

  • Board-sharing: Amplify your boards on other platforms.

    • Get started: Head to your board and click the “Share” icon, then choose your format. Pinterest will automatically transform your board into two sharable formats for you to choose from: a video, which you can customize by selecting “Replace Pins,” or a preview that includes details like the header image, recent Pins and board title.

  • Group boards: Turn your board into a group board by adding collaborators. As the board owner, you can set permissions to decide what collaborators can do. Let them add, move and delete Pins and sections or invite others to the group board. Or, keep greater control by limiting them to,saves, comments, reacts and organizing Pins.

    • Get started: Click the plus symbol below your board name, search by name, username or email and then click “Invite” next to the friends you want to add. Or, click “Copy link “and send it to the friends you want to add.

  • Private setting: If you’re preparing content for a future event, creating a draft to publish at a later date or saving inspo for a top-secret collab, you might want to keep your board hidden, even just temporarily.

    • Get started: Head to “Board options” by clicking the three dots at the top of your app or desktop screen. Click “Edit board and header image” and select “Make this board secret” to make boards only visible to you—or you and a few select collaborators. And don’t forget to change it to “public” once you’re ready to show people on Pinterest what you’ve been working on.

Boards are what you make them—and they can be so much more than just a place to save your Pins. They can be a powerful tool to help you curate, collaborate and add context to your content. Make the most of your Pinterest presence by trying out all of the features boards have to offer.
