Affiliate links are one way for creators to make money on Pinterest. When you add a unique url from an affiliate program to a Pin, you could earn commission when people on Pinterest click through and shop.

Step by step

Follow these instructions to begin using affiliate links on Pinterest.

  1. Join an affiliate program
Pinterest isn’t part of the affiliate agreements, so you’ll need to choose an affiliate network. (Our official partners are: Rakuten, LTK, Shop Style and Amazon Associates US.) Your commission will depend on the terms you’ve set up with external merchants or programs.

  2. Create a Pin
Start building a Pin as usual (psst…you can use the Creator Hub to help with that) by  uploading an image or video.

  3. Add relevant information to your Pin

    • Affiliate link: Generate a unique product link with your affiliate provider. Then, add it to the destination link in place of a regular product or website URL. When people on Pinterest click the Pin, they’ll be directed to your affiliate link. (Please note: The link should go directly to a shop’s product detail page.)

    • Title and description: Ensure your Pin title and description match the information on the destination site page and contain essential keywords. (Learn more about Pin best practices.)

Affiliate link tips

Some considerations to remember as you create Pins with affiliate links:

Aim for affiliate content that’s original and adds unique value
Like all Pins on Pinterest, affiliate Pins should be engaging to anyone who encounters them and contribute to a positive experience on the platform. Always use a high-quality image or video that aligns visually with what they’ll find if they click through to the shop’s product page.

Check (or edit) affiliate links to make sure they’re functioning properly
Make sure to regularly check for broken or outdated links. Some shortener services are not currently supported on Pinterest. If the link on your Pin is blocked, remember that you can always edit it.

Be transparent about the commercial nature of your content
Follow Pinterest, your affiliate program and the FTC’s rules about link sharing and Commercial and Branded Content Guideline where applicable.
